GENEU Chief Scientific Officer Professor Christofer Toumazou Honoured With IEEE Field Medal In Biomedical Engineering

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – the world's largest technical professional society – has honoured Professor Toumazou with the IEEE Field Medal in Biomedical Engineering in recognition of his “outstanding contributions to biomedical circuit technology”. The award was president by IEEE President and CEO, Howard E. Michel, during the ISCAS international symposium in Lisbon.

DNA Electronics’ Chris Toumazou wins European Inventor Award for Research

London, UK, 18th June 2014 – The Chairman and CEO of DNA Electronics, a provider of point-of-care genomic diagnostics solutions for medical and healthcare applications, Chris Toumazou, has been awarded the European Inventor Award 2014 in the Research category, for his rapid USB-based DNA testing device.

Announced at the European Inventor Awards ceremony in Berlin on June 17th 2014, Toumazou’s win recognises his contribution to medical research with his ground-breaking invention. The device, which can show the results of a DNA test within minutes, uses silicon transistors to identify DNA and RNA, offering a simpler, cheaper and more discrete alternative to existing DNA analysis equipment.

DNA Electronics appoints Nick McCooke as Chief Business Officer

Mr McCooke brings 30 years of senior management experience in Healthcare businesses. As CEO of Solexa, from its spin-out from the University of Cambridge in 2000 to its NASDAQ listing in 2005, he led the development of the world’s leading Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) technology, which is the basis of Illumina’s current product line.
